Neurosurgery

The Wisconsin Veterinary Neurology and Surgical Center offers a state-of-the-art neurosurgical suite with the availability of a Leica surgical microscope.

Dr. Moeser completed a three-year neurology and neurosurgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania.  Following completion of his residency, Dr. Moeser received his neurosurgery certificate from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM).

Surgical procedures that Dr. Moeser performs includes:

  • Hemilaminectomy
  • Cervical Ventral Slot
  • Dorsal Laminectomy
  • Craniotomy and Craniectomies (Brain Surgery)
  • Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Placement
  • Vertebral Stabilization
  • AA Luxation Repair
  • Nerve/Muscle Biopsy
  • Durotomy

In addition to performing neurosurgery, Wisconsin Veterinary Neurology and Surgical Center is equipped and trained to provide the necessary post-op care that is unique to veterinary neurosurgery.  Many patients have very limited mobility before and after surgery, and selecting a provider that can provide appropriate nursing care can be the difference between a successful recovery and one filled with serious complications.  Our care continues even after the patient returns home; we will work as a team with the family, the primary care veterinarian, and others to ensure that the patient receives the necessary at-home care to maximize the chances of a good outcome.
